Our... Journey
Initially, the EYES tables were women only and held virtually due to the pandemic. Frank would make guest appearances to give a needed male perspective. From there, it became apparent that his lens and insight would be crucial for the future tables and talks that would include men and women.
We were already doing the work together behind closed doors, so bringing "us" to the forefront was inevitable. This journey together has allowed me to see a more vulnerable side of my husband which I am grateful he is also willing to share with others.
Michelle Madge Strong, Founder
Michelle Strong was born in Defuniak Springs, Florida. Being a military dependent afforded her the opportunity to live in over ten states from the east to west coast. She has also lived abroad in Guam, Japan and England. She graduated from Liberty University with a Psychology degree, minoring in Christian Counseling. Michelle became a licensed chaplain because she views the importance of shepherding these conversations. Mentoring youth and young adults within schools, churches and the community has been her passion for over twenty years. She writes poetry that challenges readers to acknowledge and embrace their feelings while keeping a firm hold to their faith.

Sitting at the EYES table opened my eyes, mind, and heart, inspiring me to extend this transformative experience to others. I am passionate about improving race relations and fostering spiritual relationships based on truth. Witnessing people from diverse backgrounds recognize the ongoing problem and commit to meaningful change was a highlight for me. EYES isn't just about discussions—it's about provoking thought and driving real action.

I was initially drawn to the EYES organization after attending a community event in 2023 where I met Michelle Strong, who invited me to an EYES Table. I am impressed by its spiritual mission to engage people from diverse backgrounds. I am passionate about improving elementary students' reading scores in our community. Sitting at an EYES Table, I was struck by participants sharing their historical experiences and racial encounters, which left a lasting impression on me.

I was drawn to the EYES organization by my upbringing during the Civil Rights movement and my lifelong aspiration to foster a "beloved community." The EYES Table experience embodies this objective, fostering personal transformation table by table. I am passionate about combating our community's complacency towards the enduring harm of racism. The EYES Table confronts biases and beliefs with honesty, allowing God's love to heal societal wounds.

Sitting at the EYES Table provided a unique opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations with diverse individuals. Each session encourages introspection and the sharing of biblically centered thoughts.

I was drawn to the EYES organization for its biblical approach to addressing racism. As an EYES table attendee, I appreciated being able to not only examine racial issues but also gain insight as to how Christians can work to eliminate them.
